Modern Skirts have carved out a unique place in the Athens music scene. After releasing their critically lauded first album, Catalogue of Generous Men, and touring extensively for two years, the band changed direction and released their sophomore effort, “All of Us in Our Night,” in early 2009. Slipping down to New Orleans between tours to record new songs, Modern Skirts have just finished their most exciting album to date, and their live performances have reflected the new direction the band is heading in.

Reptar is a pop amalgamation from Athens (think about listening to party music while simultaneously having an orgasm on top of the highest peak in the land with a gaggle of your closest comrades). Reptar was formed in early 2009 by Graham Ulicny, William Kennedy, Ryan Engelberger, and Andrew McFarland. All four of us love one another very much and have a deep seeded appreciation for music. The philosophical goal of this band is to create and sustain group consciousness. Euphoria put in a blender on medium with some ice, recorded into a microphone and sampled backwards over a array of unwieldy instruments and electronics. With these powers combined, we can topple small buildings, schmaltzy restaurants, and shmuppy next-door-neighbors with our devastating wall of synthesizers and samples. Dig? We like to have fun. And boogie. Take off your shoes and come to our party and dance.

Thayer plays/has played keys for Nate Nelson, Jeremy Wheatley, Ben Mize, Dave Marr, Don Chambers, Elijah Neesmith, Fabulous Bird, Jim Wilson, Justin Evans, Kaitlin Jones and the county fair, Kuroma, Little Francis, Patrick Carey, Sweet Tooth Simpleton, and others. She now performs original songs on guitar, joined by friends from this list of projects. The debut album, "King", was recently released in August, 2009.
